At home Math Games

This activity can be played at home using materials around the house. You can either draw out two ten frames on paper or if you have two empty egg cartons cut off the last two spaces to make a 10 frame.

Ways to play:

1. Give your child a number between 0-20 and have them fill in the spaces.

2. Groups of 10 (You will need two different items to fill in the spaces)

- Using one ten frame for this activity place a number of the same item on the ten frame. Then ask your child; "How many more do you think we need to make 10?"

Then have your child fill in the remainder of the 10 frame with the other item.

For example: You put 4 flowers in 4 spaces on the 10 frame. Then you child puts 6 lego blocks in the remaining spaces. Then they learn that 4 + 6 = 10! Repeat but use a different starting number than 4 to see the many ways to make 10!

If you child has mastered this take away the 10 frame and try to make groups of other numbers like 7, 8, 9 etc....
